Superman II: The Richard Donner Cut Trailer

Here’s a trailer for Richard Donner’s cut of Superman II.

I’m sure the footage of the three villains killing a young child will not be included with the DVD, because, for one it was Lester’s deleted footage, and two it was pretty harsh to kill a young kid with a police light. (The giant villain that doesn’t talk throws a police light at the child and the child and the horse explode!)

The trailer shows Superman getting thrown into the Statue of Liberty, I’m almost sure that wasn’t in the theater cut. Plus, we have the famous deleted Brando footage reinstated. It would appear that Donner’s version of Superman II was more serious and the relationship between Lois and Clark more mature. (The fact that Superman doesn’t wipe Lois’ mind).

See, I think that footage should be included because that shows you just how evil they are, and it provides a much stronger contrast with the Man of Steel.

It is the same reason I think John Carpenter made the right choice in the original version of Assault on Precinct 13.

I see your point, and you might be right. But even without the child’s murder, the three villains do kill a lot of people. Here’s hoping they have the legal right to add even Lester’s deleted footage of that scene.

BTW, I’m almost certain the new cut will retain the original fate of the three villains at the end, with them being very much alive and being arrested with Luther.
