Character Review: Stewie Griffin
Name: Stewie Griffin
Show: Family Guy
Stewie Griffin is a much beloved character on the extremely popular show Family Guy. Stewie is about one year old, depending on the episode. Unlike other children his age, he is extraordinarily intelligent and to some, extent evil. He’s a highly cultured individual as well. Sometimes, he’s seen with a teddy bear named Rupert, which he shares his evil plans with. (Better believe this is a joke on the FOX owner Rupert Murdock).
There have been changes to the character over the seasons. Early on, Stewie appeared to be more intelligent and perhaps more evil. He dreamed of taking over the world and he had a desire to kill his mother. He would invent devices that would help him destroy or take over the world. Most of the time they failed. Later, the character went through an overhaul, the writers began to move away from the evil baby arc, and moved into a more cultured Stewie. Basically, this version of Stewie clashed the more simple family members of the house.
People generally love Stewie the best out of all the characters, because he’s such an outlandish character. He can say and do things that grown characters can’t do, because he’s a baby. The marketing of the show is usually focused toward Stewie. This has to do with his broad appeal. Out of all the characters, the writers also seem to enjoy writing for him the most.
