This was one of director John Frankenheimer (JF) last films. After being released in 2000, the movie was widely panned by critics and ignored by moviegoers. Many people were upset this flawed filmed was going to be attached to JF’s legacy.
I am going to come out and say this about the movie; it’s not as bad as many have stated that it was. Given the sheer amount of crap that has come out since this movie’s release, I found it to be enjoyable but greatly flawed. There are many problems with the script that not even a hundred writers could fix. The entire concept has too many flaws and attempts to cover them up with three to four plot twists.
Then, there is the casting of Ben Affleck. He was so wrong for this part, and he should simply stick to Kevin Smith movies. Gary Sinise and Charlize Theron are actually entertaining. Clarence Williams III and Danny Trejo kick ass too.
When the film is completely on back of Affleck, the movie falls flat on its face. I have to wonder if the critical fallout would be as harsh if the main star was someone else.

I agree... it isn't really that bad. Affleck just smothers it.
He almost doesnt even try to act in some of the scenes and it's just sad watching him around better actors in the movie.
The only redeeming thing about that movie is that Charlize takes her top off.
(Was that out loud?)
yes, that was a great scene (or more scenes, depending on the rating).
