The Man with the One Red Shoe
This Tom Hanks movie came out way back in the summer of 1985 and directed by Stan Dragoti. The main story is about two factions of the CIA spying on a normal, if a little strange, guy, believing he is some super spy because he was walking around with one red shoe in an Airport. It is all set up as a trap to catch the other faction doing something wrong.
There is something really refreshing about watching a comedy from the 80s. It was a time when jokes were a little more edgier than what we get today without the gross humor. The movie is in no way brilliant or that funny, but it still has that 80s charm. Plus, I actually liked Hanks' performance. However, after you finish the movie, you'll come to realize that it is extremely thin and feels a little short.
That's the general problem with this movie. There's a huge chunk of it missing. It feels like someone forced the director into cutting about thirty minutes out of the story. Yet, you have to see a still young Carrie Fisher bouncing around in a Tarzan/Jane outfit, now that was extremely sexy. That is worth the price of the DVD alone.
In the end, there isn't much to this film, but it is still good to look back at old school Tom Hanks.
Grade CSmile, Tom, your career has turned up way better than Jim Carrey's. So relax
