Elf-man

http://www.nowpublic.com/sony_steps_over_spider_man_3_director_sam_raimi

I saw Spiderman 3; I’ll have a review up in a few days. But I have some things to say about the score. The score wasn't great, but I liked some of the music.

Over at Yvonne's site, she and I mentioned something things about the score to Spider-man 3. As you probably know, Danny Elfman did the score to the first two movies, but he had a major falling out with Sam Raimi and they've never talked to each other since. Christopher Young was brought in to write the score to part three. He finished the score, but not everyone was happy with Young's take on the music...

There were some people at Sony who were not pleased with his music.

Taken from this site. ((Now, news has been leaked that Sony is not pleased with some of Young's composition and has hired long-time Elfman orchestrator, Steve Bartek, to adapt Elfman's compositions from the first two Spider-Man films for a couple of the scenes. ))

Most of the stuff that did work was Elfman’s themes anyway. So, it would appear Sony was trying to cover some of it mistakes dealing with Elfman.

Argh, it reminds me of the bust-up between Howard Shore and Peter Jackson I once read about.

:(

Yep, but this one was far more public and bitter. Elfman was the first to break the story, discussing the whole.

Shore let it pass, even though he spent months on the music to have it all rejected.

It's kind of interesting to see how they both dealt with the stuff
