Yeah, I beat Xenosaga Ep 1 last night. I actually enjoyed the ending. Even though the game doesn’t really tie up lose ends, it was a very nice ending. Yasunori Mitsuda music was always amazing and I just loved hearing some of his action music backed by a full-fledge orchestra. I promptly played EP 2 afterwards. It was a little jarring to see a completely different environment and storyline at the beginning. Then, it become clear this was a flashback, and the game switched over directly to where the first game left off.
