South Park: 200

South Park: 200

Simply put, South Park’s 200th episode is a very meta-self referential parody on itself. I knew I had to watch this episode because it marked the return of Tom Cruise back on the show after ripping his religion and reputation took on the episode “Trapped in the Closet”. It didn’t disappoint. This episode nearly (amusingly) crosses the line of “breaking the fourth wall” throughout. And, this is best part about the episode.

Tom Cruise is working in a factory packing fudge into boxes, thus making him a fudge-packer literally. The South Park kids call him a “fudge packer” and he takes great offense to that and decides to team up with every celebrity that the show has made fun of over the years. The celebrities threaten South Park with a class action lawsuit. Yet, there is another group wanting to interfere too.

There is another subplot that I will not get into, but will cause some trouble for the show.

All the famous storylines from the past 199 episodes are touch upon here in this jammed packed episode. I enjoyed the Super Friends references to the thinly veiled attacks against scientology. Probably the best animation in the show is the new Mecha-Streisand 2.0. That animation is impressive.

For a 30-minute episode, there aren’t really any slow parts in the story. I really enjoyed this episode and can’t wait for the second part.

Grade: B+

-Was there a Lost moment thrown in at the end with the cliffhanger?

-Tim Burton deserved the bashing he got in this episode. It is about time someone makes fun of this guy.

-The characters even make fun of the rehashed jokes in the show.

Xenu won't let you pack fudge, Tom.
