Executive Decision
I remembered when I first watched this movie I was a little disappointed with this movie. I was a fan of Steven Seagal at the time and couldn’t wait to see a team up between Seagal and Kurt Russell. I also remember seeing a lot of promotions about the movie co-starring Seagal and Russell. You couldn’t believe my surprise when they killed off Seagal really early into the film.
After re-watching the film recently, I’ve grown to really enjoy this movie. And, it is certainly better than Air Force One, which came out one year later. Basically, they use the same plot devices that Executive Decision did better.
Here are a few random points of interests.
~Jerry Goldsmith’s score is very good here. Interestingly enough, he also wrote the music for Air Force One. The scores are similar.
~This was Stuart Baird’s first directing job. He’s only done three movies as a director. But, Baird is an amazing editor.
~John Leguizamo has a pretty good role. I can’t believe this is the same guy that brought us The Pest and Super Mario Brothers. Keep in mind that he was also a terrorist in Die Hard II.
~Halle Berry looks amazing here. She’s really attractive. Her role is very small, but her character wasn’t annoying.
~Oceanic Airlines is used here, and this company is also used in Lost.
~Steven Seagal in this movie was starting his fat phase of his career.
Anyway, Executive Decision is a pretty good movie that holds up pretty well after 14 years. Plus, you get to see Seagal’s character die over and over again.
