Nuts-gate (screw you, Jesse Jackson)

Jesse Jackson attempts the Vulcan Nerve Pinch on Obama, but he fails.

F’ you, Jesse Jackson

I know people are outraged about Jesse Jackson talking about ‘cutting Obama’s nuts off’ or outraged that people are making a big deal about it. But, people are missing the point of Jesse Jackson’s remark and the larger problem with the black community. This remark represents another larger issue.

The major issue deals with Jesse saying, “See, Barack been, um, talking down to black people.”

This is the portion of the conversation that is what is wrong with many black leaders today. Anytime someone brings up a real problem within the black community, someone shouts that ‘they’re talking down to black people.’ Many people even start to call them the evil word sellout whenever they hit too close to home.

There is a battle going on among the black community that wasn’t there back in the civil rights days. There is huge problem with education and fathers abandoning their families. We need to actual discuss these issues instead of sweeping them under the rug. Like it or not, these issues are damaging our community. Black children are growing up with one or more parents out of the house or bad parents.

We’re setting the deck against ourselves. We have to instill the importance education within our community and fathers need to understand that they are important part of the family structure. We need to kick the drugs and liquor out of the street. We can’t solve some of the other problems without dealing with these problems first. Yet, our so called leaders don’t deal with these issues.

We can’t fall back on the reasoning that it is merely racism that has many of our people in prison compared to whites. There are some deep seeded problems that Obama attempted to talk about in many of his speeches to the black community. However, there is that old school element that says he’s talking down to poor blacks. People like Jesse Jackson attacked when Bill Cosby mentioned the same thing.

While Bill Cosby sometimes comes across too old and out of touch, he does have a point about the black youth. (Video Here). He's right, people have to come out and say something about. But, whenever Cosby or Obama mentions that blacks need to solve many of our own problems through responsibility, they're consider uppity or 'talking down to blacks or poor blacks'. This is wrong.

People are talking about the ‘cutting his nuts off’ remark, when we need to discuss why Jackson feels the need to attack Obama about his stance on issues. Is there something more behind Jackson’s remarks?

F’ you, Jesse. Obama isn’t talking down to blacks, he’s trying to discuss some of the major problems were causing to ourselves and how to fix them. Leaders like Jackson simply are too set in their ways to understand or are too jealous to see this point.

For further reading on this matter, The Samurai Frog has a completely different take on it, but I see what he's getting at though. While I don’t agree with most of it, he brings up some good points.

Also, Nas has something to say about Mr. Jackson.

When I saw the following headline this morning, I knew we were in trouble as a society:

Bernie Mac makes off-color joke at Obama event

Great, more controversy. While I'm not sure what Mr. Mac said was offensive, it wasn't right for the crowd he was presenting to.

His remarks were probably less offensive than Mr. Jackson's

It is a shame that our society, instead of solving the problem of prejudice, is instead making the problems even more complicated. I'm glad I grew up learning to judge by someone's individual character instead of genetic features. It is a shame that these "leaders" in government and civil rights groups (specifically the media hogs) cannot learn the same lesson. That is the only way a society can move on from the horrible past mistakes that were made. Just my opinion of course

Very good words, Paul. I feel the same way and you bring up some points that I forgot to mention in my post.

Btw, you gotta love that FOX is hyping this thing up like crazy.
