XM and Sirius are kicking A**es

The major jump in Satellite radio members

Comment: It seems like everyone is making the jump to Satellite radio. People at work are talking about it. XM has around 6 million customers, while Sirius has around 2-3 million. This has to scare the crap out of the regular radio mangers and owners out there. After talking to a program manger and ad-promotion manger, I believe the regular radio business model needs to be fixed. There’s too much time devoted to ads and 15-minute music cycles.

When I went to Radio One, people on my tour kept complaining about all the problems with the radio system, but the program woman kept saying, “Nope, our studies have shown…” If you’re studies are so right, why are you continuing to lose customers to paid services. (People are willing to pay for radio and TV, this should tell you something)

BTW, same thing is happening to normal TV networks vs. cable channels. It’s time for a change, people.
