Piccolo revealed in the live action Dragon Ball Movie.

I used to watch Dragon Ball Z by the bulk through a friend’s collection of VCR tapes back in the day. There are a lot of flaws with the anime show, but it has some charm to it. The action is over-the-top just enough to keep it from being stupid.

One of my favorite characters is the villain turned good guy, Piccolo.

In the live action film, James Marsters will play the character.

I’m all for changes to established characters, when switching from one medium to another one, but this might be too drastic for even me.

Where’s his turban or cape? Why is he wearing a Batman & Robin outfit?

In this film, Piccolo is a villain.

This is taken from the Dragonball Wiki page (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dragonball_(film)

((James Marsters as Lord Piccolo: The villain of the film.[3] Marsters explained that this incarnation of the character is "thousands of years old and a very long time ago he used to be a force of good, but [he] got into a bad argument and was put into prison for 2000 years. It got him very angry, and he finds a way to escape and then tries to destroy the world." He also confirmed Piccolo will retain his physical appearance from the anime. Marsters is a fan of the television series, which he described as being "the coolest television cartoon in the last 50,000 years [because] it’s got a Shakespearean sense of good and evil."[1] Piccolo was intended to look handsome, but Marsters and the make-up artist chose to give him a decrepit complexion, having been trapped for thousands of years. Although the make-up process tended to take four hours, the first time it took seventeen hours to apply, and Marsters had difficulty breathing.[4] Ron Perlman was offered the role of Piccolo, but turned it down to work on Hellboy II: The Golden Army.[5]))

Looking at these photos, this movie is starting to look like Mortal Kombat III, and that’s a bad thing. (Word on the street was that the studio was thinking about dumping the movie altogether.)

As he looks in the cartoon show.
