The many faces of Robin Part I

Robin (Dick Grayson)

Dick Grayson was a part of the acrobatic troupe, the Flying Graysons. When corruption entered the circus, Dick watched as his parents died while doing a stunt. Their rope was cut by someone. Bruice Wayne (batman) took in the orphaned Dick, and taught his the same things Batman trained for. Thus, the 1st Robin was born, and he was Batman’s trusty sidekick for many years.

After Robin was shot by the Joker, Robin and Batman had a major falling out. He left the Batcave behind and joined the superhero group the New Teen Titans. Batman told Dick to leave the Robin name behind. As he did, Dick want guidance, so he went to Superman and that was where he got the idea for Nightwing.

Ever since then, Dick Grayson has been known as Nightwing, and has pretty much patched things up with Batman, helping him whenever possible.

Robin II (Jason Todd)

Jason Todd was a punk kid that pretty much lived on the streets of Gotham City. With no parents around to support him, He stole things to survive. While Batman parked his Batmobile on a street corner, Jason Todd attempted to steal the tires off the Batmobile! Batman came back and caught him in the act. Feeling bad for Todd, Batman took him under his wing (ugh, I can’t believe I said that).

Batman taught the young kid everything there was to know about crime fighting. After Todd’s training was complete, he became the New Robin. However, unlike the first Robin, this Robin was moody and didn’t take orders well. Some readers believe this Robin may have committed the murder of a rapist, breaking the code of Batman. However, it was never proven.

Later, Batman placed Robin off active duty, because he was too difficult to handle. Robin left the Batcave, frustrated. He received info that his mother was still alive and living in another country. He went there and met his real mother, however his mother was working for the Joker and double-crossed him. The Joker severely beat Todd with a crowbar nearly killing in front of his mother. The Joker then double-crossed Todd’s mother and tied her up, as her son lay on the floor broken and bloody. The Joker left a parting gift for the two of them a bomb that exploded; both Todd and his mother were killed in the blast.

Batman came across the bodies of both of them. Batman felt guilty of the second Robin’s death, and his heart filled with rage. He wanted revenge and he didn’t care how. He actually went out to hunt the Joker down, ready to murder him. However, out of nowhere, Superman came in and stopped Batman from murdering the Joker. With the help of Superman, the two captured the Joker and brought him to justice.

Follow up to Jason Todd

A few years later, Batman came across a new villain in his city. This villain (Red Hood) actually severely beat down the Joker with a crowbar. When the Batman came face to face with this new Villain, the villain unmasked himself. It was none other than Jason Todd!
