Evony: Strange Marketing

Evony: Strange Marketing

I’ve been seeing these strange Evony banners everywhere. Each one usually has half naked woman scrolling through the banner with the words, “Come play, my lord.” I’m all for selling sex for products, but this is ridiculous.

The banners make me apprehensive about clicking on them. I’m afraid of getting a damn STD from their damn banners. I don't know if I'm clicking on a damn escort service or a videogame.

So, what does the game really look like?

So, how do you go from Boobs to a world building MMORPG? Just look at the gameplay.

I looked very hard, and I didn’t see one bare boob in the gameplay. Why not just sell the damn game on the gameplay and it being free instead of promoting breasts? I like breasts...a lot, but I don't want Burger King selling their new burger with a pair of boobs in the ads.

Besides the countless sluts wanting you to “rescue” them from the game, Evony has had some other trouble throughout the inter-tubes. Bruce Everiss, a videogaming expert, found himself being sued by Evony. He has countless posts on the controversy over Evony over at his blog. You have to wonder why are they going after him so forcefully, if there isn't some truth to what he has to say? Some of Bruce's information does seem sound to me.

My hubby plays Evony. He's a Vice Host for a decent sized and ranked Alliance on Mega Server #3 if you go play. I play occasionally too but it's all about the war and I'm a more social gamer.

We both though it was hilarious that it was AFTER we signed up that the clevage ads started popping up and now they have alot of different boobage ads floating around.

I thought about giving this game a try, but I'd probably be hooked on it from the get go. I can't tell how many hours I played Kessen on the PS2.

I guess this is a bit more world building than some games. Is this like Age of Empires?
