Transformers Intros

Probably one of the biggest creative influences in my life, besides Peter David and Superman, was the cartoon show Transformers.

For fun, I’ve found all the intros to each season of the show.

First season intro

This one was pretty simple and showed us the basic concept of the show, while having a so-so music track. Grade B-

Second Season intro

This had smoother animation, and had the very cool Dinobots in it. But the echo voices from the singers got on my nerves. Grade B

Five Faces of Darkness mini series.

There is a lot of history behind this one. Basically, after the movie, the show went through a major creative change with a new group of characters and leaders. With the leap to the year 2006 (The movie was set in 2005, and the first two seasons set in the 80s), the focus of the show moved from Earth to space. This mini series was a transitional story from the movie to the 3^rd season. This intro reveals certain plot points that will happen in the mini series.

The music in this one is much better and would be reused for the remainder of the show.

The normal Third season intro

This one is probably the best out of all of them. With the ‘hip hop’ song and new animation, everything just works.

The 4^th season intro

Notice the difference in the style animation? That’s because these were clips from the Transformer toy ads that the producers edited together for the very short 4^th season. I consider the return of Prime and the Headmasters stuff part of Season 4 season.
