Radio Shack to
shut down a lot of stores
I fondly
remember that RS ad with all those 80s icons. It was a way of
saying, “Yeah, we suck, but we're getting better." Radio Shack is a
product of its time just like Blockbuster. And, it was a company
that refused to move quickly to a different form of retail. Learn from Blockbuster.
I don't think the
Shack will survive the next few years. However, I do like their take
on 80s coming back and getting rid of the old stores.

USA Today, ((RadioShack said Tuesday that it would close up to
1,100 poorly performing stores amid widening losses, or roughly 20%
of its locations, as part of an effort to remake itself for a more
competitive era of electronic retailing. ))
Not even Shaq could save this chain from closing its doors. Yes,
Shaq-fu himself was a spokesman for a while, the same guy that made
Steel and Shaq-fu. Shaq isn't known for quality branding.
