Coal Black and
de Sebben Dwarfs (Very racist)
Yes, I agree
this is very bad and racist. It is clearly a product of its time,
but still painful to watch. I can't believe they could cram so much
racism into a 7 min film. It should be noted that this short is part
of the famous (infamous) Censored
Eleven. They are a collection of racist shorts that WB is
ashamed of showing ever. This one is certainly fits that grouping.
So, is this as
racist as the scene from Dumbo with the jive-talking crows? I am not
100% sure the crow scene from Dumbo is that racist. But, that's for
another post. But, yeah this short is far worst. It shows its age
by making “So White”, the hero, a slut. She goes around shaking
her ass and actually has sex with groups of men. Often during this
time period, black women were viewed as being loose. And, this
cartoon displays that hurtful attitude.
There are those
that defend the movie on the merits of its animation, which was
considered groundbreaking at the time, but we can't look pass the
downright meanness of the portrayal of black people in this piece.
Here's the full
“short”. Beware, it is very racist.
What makes this
racist?
-The red juicy
lips on all the black people.
-The over the
top “black”
-Gold/dice
teeth. WTF?
-They even threw
in some racist remarks to the Japanese. Wow, just wow.
Notes
-Snow White is
basically a slut. She clearly has a gangbang with all the Murder Inc
guys! I can't believe they got away with that one in the 40s.
-Snow White ate
the apple whole. What the f'?
-Why did the
Prince turn into an old man?
Really, WB? Really?

Racist- a person with a prejudiced belief that one race is superior to others.
Coal Black and de sebben dwarves is not racist. Sure they might be cracking jokes at other races but it depends on the viewer to if they take offence to it or not. They made the crack at the Japanese because we were at war with them! Thats possibly the only thing that could be defined racist. Remember this was made quite a while ago, people now days have a different sense of humour and I'm sure the troops loved watching this clip for some giggles.
