Steve Jobs’ NeXT Computer

Steve Jobs’ NeXT Computer http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NeXT

Before his death, I had no idea Jobs started up another computer company called NeXT Computer.  What is interesting is after Apple fired him; he decided to start up another computer company.  He brought along some of his team from Apple.  Instead of sulking about after being fired from his own company, he started another company.
The NeXT computers are very high-end computers for hardcore tech nerds and companies.  It seemed like a departure from the Apple brand, which was more user-based friendly.  The NeXT computers were a cross between a PC and a Workstation.  Jobs called it “Interpersonal Computing”.  The other thing about the NeXT computer is that it had the hefty price tag of $6500.  That is a very big ouch.  That probably hurt the company.
I really like the design for the NeXT computers, and it looks like the PS2 and PS3 look a lot like the NeXT stations.  He also came up with the NeXTcube in the 90s and the NeXTstation. The NeXTstation also cost a heavy 4 thousand.
None of the NeXT products were a success.  Apple bought neXT, it intergraded some of the aspects of the NeXT programming into Apple products.

Great pictures of the NeXT computer. Thanks.

After reading the following paragraph, I don't think you put the purchase of NeXT in the correct context.

"Apple bought neXT, it intergraded some of the aspects of the NeXT programming into Apple products."

When Apple bought NeXT it got Steve Jobs and the NeXT Step operating system. At the time Apple was struggling. It was advertising "vaporware" operating systems and revolutionary new products that never shipped.

NeXT Step became OSX. Without OSX, nothing that Apple did after Steve become the iCEO would have possible.

Sweet, thanks for the update. I've always respected Jobs, because he could have went away after his firing and disappeared from the spotlight, but he kept creating and the tech world is a better place because of him.

I remember Apple in the poor state it was in before Jobs came back.
