Hood vs. Rothman (Check the video interview)
Gavin Hood talks about some of the disagreements between him and Fox studio leader Tom Rothman. Rothman is not a good studio runner and somehow has made even FOX worst than what it was before his tenure. (You can see his mess
for yourself at his Wiki page)
Hood tries to tone down some of the conflicts between Rothman and he,
even though they’ve been reported everywhere. Remember, there were rumors that he ordered sets to be lightened up behind Hood’s back.
It is no secret that FOX didn’t exactly have a stellar group of movies last year.
What are some of his crimes?
-Booting Singer for The Rat: This is the same guy that felt it was a good idea to bring in Super-D-bag Bret Ratner and promptly fired Bryan Singer from the X-Men franchise. Thus, X3 is a cheaper version of those two better written films.
-
Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li: Didn’t they learn from the first movie? It seems only the animated versions are better. Why would the studio think this movie would be a hit?
-Meet Dave: When Norbit wasn’t enough…I love that FOX was surprised by the poor Box Office returns.
-X-Files II: Hey, let’s release another X-Files movie with a 30 million smaller budget and boring script. “Sounds like fun.”
BTW, I sort of love the fact FOX is being embarrassed by the leak of an early version of the
Wolverine Origins movie.
(Side Note: Did I mention that FOX wants movie theaters to pay for the 3-D glasses for their
upcoming 3-D movies? How stupid is that?
Side Note II:
FOX will strip down features on rental versions of their DVDs. Yep, that’s stupid too.)
Someone needs to show Rothman the door.
