Do you remember Vanity (AKA Denise Katrina Matthews)?

Do you remember Vanity (AKA Denise Katrina Matthews)?

While reading a Tales for the Crypt review over at the Agony Booth, I took note of the guest star Vanity. That’s right she called herself Vanity. Remembered how hot she was back in the day. I had a huge crush on her back in the day. I mean this girl was hot. She had the prefect body and a stunning face.

Most people will remember this lovely woman from The Last Dragon or Action Jackson. She was also the lead sing in the group Vanity 6.

You might remember their hit single “Nasty Girl”.

Her last movie was Kiss of Death in 1995. From what I can tell, it wasn’t that good. She made a lot of extremely sexual songs with the group. You would usually see them in revealing underwear in most of their music videos.

Well, how does she look today? Check it out.

She got into a lot of sex and drugs. So, much so that her drug use caused some serious damage to her body that she's still suffering from. I think that is the reason she looks in bad shape today to be fair. Here's the kicker; she's a hardcore born again Christian. It looks like she wants to spread the word of God today. What a range of lifestyles this woman has lived.

You notice whenever someone has trouble with drugs, they inevitably get pulled into hardcore religion to get out of it?

Such a shame, such a shame.

There doesn't seem to be any middle ground for these people. It's like they have to fill one extreme with another extreme. And, there's no real balance in their lives.

There has to be a paper on this somewhere. Where's Dr. Drew when you need him?

Vanity gave up her stage name and became a born-again Christian in 1994, the year she almost died from the effects of smoking crack cocaine. She claims that after being rushed to the hospital, doctors said she had three days to live while on life support. She said that Jesus came to her at this time and spoke to her, saying if she promised to give up her Vanity persona, he would save her. In 1995, she said, "When I came to the Lord Jesus Christ, I threw out about 1,000 tapes of mine — every interview, every tape, every video. Everything."[7] She has stated that she has chosen not to receive any further revenue from her work as Vanity, and has cut off all ties with Hollywood and her former life in the music business.[8] After a kidney transplant in 1997, she decided to devote her life to evangelism. She now speaks at churches across the United States and overseas.

In 2010, Matthews released her autobiography, Blame It On Vanity.

So she become official crazy:)

Thanks for the extra info. I didn't know she does not take any money from her early work.
