My top ten favorite movies of 2006 (part one)

Silent Bob, uh Kevin Smith, has released his favorite movies of 2006.

He has some good movies on the list and some that I’ve never heard of.

Probably the best overview he wrote was this one… Inside Man

I’m a Spike Lee fan. I’m a Denzel Washington fan. I’m a Spike/Denzel team-up fan (”Malcolm X”, “Mo’ Better Blues”, “He Got Game”). So this flick was right up my alley. An entertaining and energetic heist movie, “Inside Man” represented a new chapter in Spike’s career: Spike as the director of commercial fare he didn’t write. And if anyone was uncertain before (and after “Do the Right Thing”, how could they be?), it’s abundantly clear with “Inside Man” that Mr. Lee is one of the ten best American directors working today.

Since Kevin has his list, it’s only right that I have mine. I just wrote them down in this order, so one isn’t better than the other one. Enjoy the list.

V FOR VENDETTA: I loved this movie. The message the movie was attempting to convey is just as important now as it was when it was released.

INSIDE MAN: After coming off one of his worst movies, She Hate Me, Spike Lee bounced back with this impressive bank heist movie. This movie is up there with his work in Malcolm X. Great movie, and a very good score. Washington kicks ass.

MISSION IMPOSSIBLE 3: Yeah, so Tom is crazy and sure the movie under preformed at the box office, but this movie was probably the best of the MI films. This mainly had to do with the fact that it actually felt like the Mission Impossible TV show.

CASINO ROYALE: Bond is back and without a Madonna techno song.

BABEL: I hate to admit this, but I probably would have overlooked this film if it wasn’t for the free movie tickets I got to an early screening to this well written movie.

Tom: Don't mind me, just checking the tires...

I really, really enjoyed V for Vendetta. Can't say there was too much else that came out in 2006 that captured my interest much, though.

Yeah, it is a very good movie with something interesting to say about society and its people.

Plus the Zorro look also was cool as well.
