This is a little known, yet somewhat famous blooper/practical joke. At this point, Washington was a major movie actor. Having him sneak onto the set to play a little practical joke on Guy is very cool of him. Guy's startled reaction is completely real, she had no idea that Washington was behind her.
Debbie Gibson was behind the practical joke. The scene called for Guy's character to gush over Denzel and her friends were supposed to walk in on her. Gibson asked Washington to play this joke on Guy. Gibson was directing the scene and snuck Washington into the scene.
