From CNN, ((Stan Lee, the colorful Marvel Comics patriarch who helped usher in a new era of superhero storytelling -- and saw his creations become a giant influence in the movie business -- has died.
He was 95.))
Despite being a DC guy, I grew up seeing Stan Lee as the face of Marvel. Back in the 90s, he would show up live the animated Marvel shows. He was basically the grandfather to all comic book fans and he was a good storyteller. Yes, the man was a legend, but he was also a pop cultural icon. I loved seeing him in all those Marvel movies. And, Marvel actually gave him an in-canon reason for all his Marvel appearance in the Guardians of the Galaxy sequel.
Sadly, the last days of his life were full of drama and rumors of people taking advantage of him. I am not going to get into that, but it was sad watching that story unfold.
Anyway, his characters will live on in various media.
