The Digg Patriots (the La-Li-Lu-Le-Lo)

Image
The Digg Patriots (the La-Li-Lu-Le-Lo ) This month, someone discovered a group of conservative Internet users that organized to bury stories that supported the left or attacked the right side of political field on the popular site Digg. It has been reported that they also went after Digg users that were considered liberal. From the site above, ((A group of nearly one hundred conservatives have banded together on a Yahoo Group called Digg Patriots (DP), and a companion site at coRanks to issue bury orders and discuss strategies to censor Digg and other social media websites. DP was founded on 21 May 2009. Since then, over 40,000 posts have been logged at a steady rate of around 3000-4000 per month. The “Patriots” Network on coRank is a tool to submit Diggs to a group list as opposed to sending an e-mail every time. It also has some tools that make submitting to the list as easy as clicking on a bookmark. The DP membership includes the following Digg users (among others): )) W...

Biking While Black…(Part 1 of 2)

Image
Biking While Black…(Part 1 of 2) MC came up with this title when I posted about this on Facebook. First off, I will not mention the name of the police department in my post, because last time I did this kind of post I kind of got into a legal whirlwind. So, I’ll just say this: The police department I’m talking about is not the Louisville Metro PD. They are a PD surrounded by Metro PD. Bicyclists and police generally have an unspoken rule. They don’t bother us if we blow through stop signs, and we don’t run red lights when there is traffic. For the most part, the police will ignore you while on a bicycle. Moving on… On Saturday, I usually ride my bike around the city using safe biking routes and trails. On one of these routes, I went to one of the malls in the East End. I spent about an hour inside the mall and got back onto my bicycle and headed out. At a traffic light, I noticed a police car turning left into a shopping center across from the mall. H...

Police Academy 3: Back in Training

Image
Police Academy 3: Back in Training Uh, the third sequel clearly illustrates the decline in a franchise. However, it should be noted that this third movie feels like an actual chapter in a trilogy. Most of the characters from the first two movies carried over to this one. Like many of the third stories in a trilogy, Police Academy 3 is practically a remake of the first movie, but poorly excuted. The first Police Academy was never a great movie, but it was a raunchy comedy that ripped off Stripes well. Police Academy was my generation’s Stripes, but it wasn’t as funny as Stripes. Police Academy 2, while lighter in tone and rating, still retain many of the aspects that made the first movie enjoyable. Then came Police Academy 3. When I was younger, I loved this little movie and thought it was as funny as the other two PA movies. The biggest issue I have with the movie is that the whole thing feels thrown together. It tries so hard to copy the formula of the first movie, but...

Kick-Ass (review part 2 of 2)

Image
Kick-Ass (review part 2 of 2) First off, Chloe Moretz is amazing as the 11 year-old Hit-Girl. Moretz carries herself extremely well in the disturbing role. Not for one moment did her acting seem annoying or fake. She is certainly a step up from many of the child actors today. Hit-Girl is both a crowd-pleasing character and a disturbing one. Despite being a young little girl, Hit-Girl kills people just like what is displayed in The Matrix. Matthew Vaughn does a good job convincing us that this little girl can kill people. Hit-Girl uses her size to her advantage. At one point, she kills a hooker for no real good reason. The hooker did have a weapon, but she was not much of a threat to Hit-Girl, but Hit-Girl runs her threw anyway. We kind of get a chuckle out of it, but the Hit-Girl thing is much deeper than being a kick ass fighter. Damon MacCready (Cage) has brainwashed Hit-Girl into becoming a killer. It is one thing to become a “Punisher” type character yourself,...

Final Fantasy XIII Daddy's Got the Blues

Final Fantasy XIII Daddy's Got the Blues I love this track so much. It is such a total departure from the Final Fantasy series that I have to give them props from putting in the game. The style of the song is old school Blues. This style of Blues still had that mixture Country feel back when Country Music and Blues were closer together.

FFXIV “Crystal Theme”

FFXIV “Crystal Theme” When I heard the opening strings, I realized FF composer Nobuo Uematsu had returned for Final Fantasy XIV: Online. This is clearly one of the tracks he composed for the upcoming FF game. It just sounds like his arrangement. He's been away from FF games for a while. I like the voices and how it switches back to just the strings at the end. This version of the crystal theme feels very much like the one from FF7. I really would like to play FFXIV, but I won't have the time.

Xbox Live Harassment: Demolition Man

Xbox Live Harassment This one had me rolling. Demolition Man really works well as a prank. Plus you throw in Die Hard for good measure.

Death Museum?

Dr. Drew on Sociology back in 2008. Drew tells it like it is about Sociology and their attacks on people working in the field of mental health. Dr. Drew mentions a certain museum backed by the space church. The name of this museum is Psychiatry : An Industry of Death Museum. With a stupid name like that, would you want to set foot inside that building? If a fast food restaurant had “Death Burgers” on the front sign, I am not going inside. With all those media types paying money to the space church, you would think someone would tell them not to put “Death” in the title. To my surprise, this damn Museum is very real . Basically, the museum connects everything bad that happened in the world back to Psychiatry. While being based in Hollywood, the “museum” tours around the country as well. It's free, as if anyone wants to pay to enter that thing. With all that propaganda, it is no wonder a brainwashed Brandy Norwood attacked a church . -Here's a rather amusing ...

Please, no Jumper 2...

Please, no Jumper 2... Filmonic has a story about the dry and wooden Hayden Christensen talking about the possiablity of a Jumper 2. I felt the first Jumper had some neat ideas, but destroyed them with a flimsy script and poorly written hero. I mean there was no reason to cheer for Hayden's character in Jumper. Sam Jackson yelled a lot and wanted to kill Jumpers. That's pretty much it. Bland Hayden had this to say about a sequel, Filmonic via MTV, (( We’re talking about it right now actually,” he said. Where could the story go? “Hopefully somewhere a little darker. I think there’s a lot you can do with it. It was sort of set up in a way it’s gonna be mother hunting son and possibly even maybe sister hunting brother. We’re talking about it, trying to figure it out.” )) I just don't think many people are hoping for another Jumper movie or watching Hayden acting again. Besides, I thought Push was a unrelated sequel anyway.
