At one point in ME’s development, there was an option to save both Kaiden and Ashley. Interesting indeed. While Ashley is a more in-depth character due to her development over the three games, Kaiden starts out likable if bland. I think people are kind of turned off Ashley’s somewhat bigoted views early on and might choose to kill her off.
The Star Trek fan in me would have liked a brighter option with saving them both. And, I think it would have happened if the game was released a few years later. Maybe you could have saved both characters if you really prepared for the mission like in ME2’s suicide mission.
I can see why they cut the third option. How this was going to happen? I don't believe EA would give them enough money to add the option back into the remaster game as a bonus due to how much it would change the story and force actors to come back record some lines.
