I just got a new smartphone a few weeks back. I had to turn off the censorship of curse words on the text messages. These North Korean phones take the censorship to a new level. I suppose these phones are from 2020, and they are restrictive. I also like that you can not type in South Korea into the phone without it autocorrecting it to “puppet state”.

These Red Cow guys do discuss the Spoony issue. Spoony, while arrogant, was a talented fellow. However, the personal demons he faced were too much. He started to rage and doom tweet all day and night about Trump and not fulfilling his duties as a content creature. He felt Tweeting was more important than his work, house, and girlfriend. He sat in an empty house, refusing to do anything.
The entire Channel Awesome group seems entitled to me now, and went after Doug when it wasn’t profitable for them. The Red Cow guys also mention that Lupa spearheaded this failed attempt to cancel Channel Awesome. Linsey was also involved in pushing this attack, too.
I loved To Bolgly Free for its time. It was an interesting endeavor. It isn't something I could have done.
She would later voice Agent L in the outstanding MIB cartoon series. This show received a lot of praise for its writing and animation. Interestingly enough, she would leave that series before the final season. They replaced her with another Jennifer, Jennifer Martin. Unlike Trek, I can’t get a firm answer as to why she left that series. Did she have another meltdown?
She completely left acting in 2001.
However, things haven’t ended up well for the former Trek actress after she left. She got married and moved to Tennessee. She married writer/indie filmmaker Hwang Phil-Seon. They have one adult offspring. I can not find much on Hwang. He’s done a lot of indies and underground film work.
She has exposed herself to children, refusing to put her clothes back on. They had to summon a female officer to force Lien to put on some clothes and arrest her. I really don’t like the exposure charges because they involve minors. Jennifer, don’t do shit like that. She also got arrested for fleeing police and another for domestic violence.
In another universe, Lien took the offer for help from Jeri Taylor and stayed on Voyager. She got better and moved on to more creative projects, even directing. The road not taken…
For years, the cast and crew of Star Trek Voyager would never fully disclose the sudden departure of Jennifer Lien. Whenever some would bring it up to the cast, they’d get uncomfortable, It would later add fuel to a major feud between Kate Mulgrew and Jeri Ryan. Things got so intense that most of the cast didn't want to be around when Ryan and Mulgrew shared a scene. That is for another story.
I used to find Jennifer Lien attractive. She is only a few years older than me. Lien played the interesting Kes character. After the third season, Lien left the show, or was fired. ST fans heard conflicting reports about her departure. The most famous and false one was that “The writers never had a grasp on her character”. After years of this story, we now know that was a lie. From Screen Rant, She began to become distracted, inattentive, there was just something off. I asked her to come into my office and probed gently to see if there was something going on in her life, something I could help her with, and she simply wouldn’t speak at all. This is what happened to everyone who tried to reach out and help her, including her agent. To this day, I don’t think anyone knows what’s going on, but clearly, there was something emotionally upset about her. She would not open up about it, she would not consider getting help about it, but clearly, it was more powerful than she was
I don’t agree with everything Jeri Taylor did on VOY, but she went out of her way to keep Lien on the show. Truth be told, Wang, Harry Kim, was supposed to get the axe. He was also misbehaving, but not to the extent Lien was. Taylor tried to get her help, but she refused. Lien and Trek parted ways. Given all the issues I had over the years, this new information would have answered a few questions about her future misdeeds. I think they would have kept Kes on the crew, but she had too many personal demons.
I know that the cast was very close, and they felt hurt by her departure. It seems they have kept this news close to the vest. I am glad Jeri Taylor finally revealed this side of the story. Jeri Taylor would pass away earlier this year, and it would have been kept a secret.
For me, addiction issues need to be dealt with. Lien seemed to not want to face it.
Whenever I talk about Little Shop of Horrors, I have three scenes I talk about. I mention the context behind the Bill Murray cameo, the original ending to the movie, and the flying motorcycle scene.
I remember watching this movie with my good friend on VHS. We were watching it, and the scene above happened. Steve Martin’s character is heard laughing. Out of nowhere, no context given, his motorcycle flies onto the screen and safely lands near Seymore. Seymour looks shocked, even looking down at the bike, amazed. After that, no one mentions or reacts to it.
My friend and I freaked out and drowned in laughter.
“Did that motorcycle just fly?”
“Rewind.”
For about three minutes, we just kept rewatching that scene.
Not too many people talk about that random occurrence. Luckily, other people have noticed this scene. Red Letter Media mentioned it in their review. For a long time, I tried to find the scene on YouTube, but here it goes.
Yes, the motorcycle flies and lands. They were trying to imply that the dentist is so high on gas that he flies. Anyway, I always love this moment.
