Metal Gear Solid 3 thoughts (The End)

Metal Gear Solid 3 Thoughts

Character Review: The End

This is probably one of the most interesting boss battles I’ve ever played. The character is called The End, because he is well over 100 years old. He is an expert sniper that uses nature as his spotter. For most of the time, he sits in a wheelchair and never moves a muscle. During this time, he’s basically dead, but he is fully alive for sniper battles. When he picks up a gun, he becomes one of the fastest characters in the game. I mean this guy is like The Flash.

Here is where it gets cool. Snake (your character) enters a section of woods. The forest starts to behave strange. The End wakes up from his location and opens fire on Snake. You see The End doesn’t use real bullets, but darts that will drain you stamina.

In the game, you have to fight him in three huge locations. He goes into deep cover and snipes at you from various locations. The key is you have to find him after he fires at you. This is the longest boss battle I’ve ever played. It took me at least an hour and a half to finally beat him.

What also makes this boss battle so compelling is the fact that you feel like he could be watching at anytime, as you run around looking for him. There is no music played during this battle, just the sound of animals and wind blowing through the tree leaves. Suddenly, you hear a gunshot and your character falls to the ground, wounded by The End. If you haven’t played this part of the game yet, you won’t be disappointed.

There are many ways to defeat this guy. There are two easy ways to defeat him; one of them is funny.

1: There is a scene early in the game where he is seen in a wheelchair and is being carried off by a guard. It’s really hard to find him, because he’s so far away. Use your sniper rife and shoot him in the head. He explodes and you won’t have to fight him later in the game. (The normal battle will take at least an hour.) This is a cheap way to defeat him, but if you don’t want to waste your time, then do it.

2: Save your game in the middle of the actual Boss Battle. Don’t play the game for exactly a week, then play it. When you start your saved game, you will see The End pass away from old age. You see The End will wait for you to return to the game, because he’s so old that he ends up dying. You won’t have to fight him then. This is a nice touch the developers to put into the game.

The there is another way to do trick number 2. After saving your game, simply move your PS2 clock forward a week and then see him die.

I actual like defeating him the slow and normal way though.

I've got Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, but I haven't even opened it yet :(

Subsistence looks pretty good, though. I plan on picking it up shortly after it's released.

You'll really enjoy MGS3, the story is extremely good. Gameplay is really neat. Such a sad ending too.
