Chrono Trigger/Cross (the story) Part 4

After the impact, Lavos digs into the ground where he would gather power from the planet’s lifeforce. Knowing that the planet is still powerful, Lavos decides he needs help, so he looks to the ape-like people called Humans, cavemen. He steers the evolution of the human race to do his work. The humans develop separate from the natural course of the planet. By not being a part of the balance, Humans dominate the rest of the planet, thus weakening the planet so that Lavos can feed upon it.

12,000 B.C.

Many years after the impact of Lavos, the Age of Magic begins. Two groups of humans live on the planet, the humans on the surface, which still live in tribes and are still primitive. These humans have to live under the horrible conditions of the Ice Age. However, the other humans reside among the clouds. This floating city is called the Zeal Kingdom that floats safely away from the harsh conditions on the icy surface.

The Zeal Kingdom is made up of magic users and people of knowledge and wisdom. The Kingdom is a complete contrast from the surface with fertile land and tall buildings. It is here that magic is created for the first time. Many humans learn how to use magic and pass it along to their children. Mages and teachers create new forms of magic spells everyday.

The ruler of this remarkable kingdom is woman by the name Queen Zeal. She has a desire for complete power, and will do anything to get it. Lavos is somehow connected to the Kingdom of Zeal, and most importantly Queen Zeal herself.
