Sleeping way too much

Man, something must be wrong with me. Ever since I got out of school, I’ve been sleeping more and more, wasting entire days. Giving that I work nightshift, I can sleep the whole day, however this is crazy. I almost have no desire to get up at all. I wonder if this is a sign of depression, hell I certainly hope not. Well, at least I am still working on my book…

Starship Troopers III (Direct to Video/DVD)

Starship Troopers III? I didn’t even know anything about this movie. http://www.slashfilm.com/2008/01/09/first-look-starship-troopers-3/ I enjoy Paul Verhoeven’s work and his style. He loves mixing nudity and violence like no other. Total Recall and Basic Instinct were great movies, and they just show that he has a twisted freaky mind. When Starship Troopers came out in 97, I was more than a little disappointed with the material. However, I’ve come to enjoy it more on repeated viewing. I also liked the subtext of the Military based community that planet has in this version of the future. There was a good amount of social commentary buried in with the violence and sex. Plus, Casper Van Dien is reprising his role. I guess those late Showtime movies haven’t paid the bills. Man, this guy can’t act. Gary Devon Blum

I have bad news. My writing teacher Gary Devon Blum passed away a few days ago. This morning I receive an e-mail with his name on it, and I knew before opening it that he had died. His wife stated that he passed away. I went and visited him a week before he died. It pained me so much to see him in such a way, but I knew he’d be happy to see me. When I saw him, he opened his eyes and he looked so happy to see me appear in the doorway, despite not being able to talk. I told him how my life was going and that I’d plan to visit him again. After I left the hospital, little did I know it would be the last time I’d ever see him. He wrote a few novels and taught at a few local universities, and this was where I met him. Gary was the kind of guy that had a low voice, but was soft-spoken. I can truly say that he was gentle person and cared about others. When I first met him and took his workshops, he helped me get through a difficult time in my life. He showed me that...
