Work It Canceled (I guess it did "work it" that much)

Image
Work It Canceled I remember hearing about this show on a podcast.   It was a podcast that actually had the creators of the show on it defending their decision to make the show.   I never bothered watching the show myself, but only heard how bad it was on TV.   I just wanted to know who green-lit the show, because this is even low for the FOX Network.   I didn’t realize how bad the show was until I bore witness to the awful trailer.   I mean really, are you so bankrupt with idea that you would think this concept would even work.   And, yes, that was Fernando Sucre from Prison Break.   What in the hell was he thinking?   I know that the GLAAD went after the series, but the critics roasted this turd show like it was an Adam Sandler movie.   I am not sure I could bring myself to even watching the 2 episodes that aired.   It is like little 30 minutes of Big Momma’s House movies all over again.

Flip the Script: The other side of overreaction: One Million Moms (JC Penney and Ellen)

Image
Flip the Script: The other side of overreaction: One Million Moms JC Penny decided to have Ellen DeGeneres as their spokeswoman for their company. Then, here comes the One Million Moms group to try to get JC Penney to fire Ellen because she is gay. From Reuters (( Breaking her silence on the furor, DeGeneres, one of America's best known gay celebrities, also poked fun at the One Million Moms group who had urged J.C. Penney to drop her as a spokeswoman because she is a lesbian and said they would boycott the store. )) This is what she had to say about the story... And, I have to give Ellen cool points from not running away from OMM and standing up to their attacks. The biggest hero to come out of this story is Bill O'Reilly. From the Huffington Post , (( He likened the group's boycott of the Texas-based retail chain after they hired DeGeneres to a "witch hunt." He went on to note, "What is the difference between the McCarthy era ...

Did you know that Shaq has a Vevo page?

Image
Did you know that Shaq has a Vevo page?   And, he only has one song listed in his vevo page.    Uh, doesn’t that seem a bit strange considering that Shaq has had 4 albums, including an album called Shaq Fu: Da Dream?   Yes, he named an album after the worlds shittiest VG Shaq-Fu.   I guess Shaq thought his game was going to be a hit.   Considering all the songs he made from the 90s, he decides to put out one song on his official vevo channel seems strange to me .     Shaq has always amazed me because he's the richest guy that has had numerous failures.  His movie career was crap, (including his small roles in Freddy Got Fingered and Scary Movie: fill in the blank).  His music career was crap. His videogame career was crap.  His free throws were crap.   He is what you would call a Red Mage.  A jack of all trades and a master of none.   Here’s the only song he has on his page. ...

Bros vs. Hipters

Bros vs. Hipters Yes, they’re both annoying groups of people.     Which group is the worst or annoying?   And, using Scientologist as an answer is not allowed.

Mystery Science Theater 3000 does Playstation Underground

Image
Mystery Science Theater 3000 does Playstation Underground Watching a couple of old farts screwing up a PS1 ad is funny. And, it is even funnier with the MST guys riffing on it. It may seem odd today, but the   MST3K brand was very popular during the PS1 age, so it makes sense where to have them show up.

MIA gives you the middle finger...and do we care?

Image
MIA gives you the middle finger... Why is this a big deal? I thought we were done with this BS with the whole Janet Jackson “incident” . Are we calling a finger malfunction? I was more offended that people find MIA interesting to begin with. I kind of blame Seth Rogan for that one. MIA clearly did it to gain attention without little substance. It was a check ploy and the outraged media fell for it. I always felt MIA did things to provoke a reaction from people without much talent to back it up. And, of course here come the groups to protest and shout. We should have just ignored it and MIA would have gone back into void of has-beens. And, because of this nonsense, we'll just get another bland act for next year.

Star Trek Voyager “The Thaw” Final Scene

Image
Star Trek Voyager “The Thaw” Final Scene Probably one of the best episodes from that troubled series has to be the episode The Thaw. Basically, people from a deep freeze have their minds actively through a dream world program. Their minds created a projection of their collective fears in the form of The Clown ( Michael McKean ). This Clown terrorized them and had a desire to live on through the program. The best part of the program is the way Captain Janeway tricks the Clown into destroying himself. It is wonderfully directed with the lights going down slowly until it is completely dark and the music fades. That is a very wonderful ending.  A real shame we couldn't have gotten more shows like this.  By the way, check out McKean's expression at the end...priceless. Clown: “I'm afraid.” Janeway: “I know.” Clown: “Drat.”

GLAAD: grasping at straws (Roland S. Martin Tweets)

Image
GLAAD: grasping at straws (Roland S. Martin Tweets) Once again, I fully support gay equal rights and marriage. I believe we need to let go of the hatred of gay people and the harmful acts against them. We also need to hold those countries responseable for the gay bashing in certain regions too. But, I think GLAAD is hunting the wrong fox in this story. Read on... From EW Inside TV , (( GLAAD took offense to tweets by CNN contributor Roland S. Martin and has now started a petition to have him fired from CNN. Martin, however, maintains his tweets were taken out of context. Here’s what happened. )) Uh, once again Twitter is involved. “Out of context” how about completely missing the mark? So, what were the offensive tweets? From EW, (( “Ain’t no real bruhs going to H&M to buy some damn David Beckham underwear!  # superbowl, ” “If a dude at your Super Bowl party is hyped about David Beckham’s H&M underwear ad, smack the ish out of him!  # superbowl,”...

Watching the Super Bowl?

Watching the Super Bowl?   Nope. I have no plans on watching the Super Bowl this year.   Just like last year and the year before and before that.   I will watch the ads afterward on YouTube, but I can’t sit through the game. I was forced to watch high school football for four years when I was in the marching band.   I hated every minute of it being bored out of my mind.   So, yeah, I will skip this mega event.    I guess we can dig a little deeper into why nerds and geeks have such a distaste for sports and sporting events.  And, I do think it falls back to their status in  school.
