Ricky Gervais is a badass
I love the fact Ricky Gerais ruffled some feather at the Golden Globes. He even took a jab at two Scientology members! That was a bold move and will probably get him blacklisted and attacked by the church. I think the most award shows are a joke anyway, especially the Golden Globes. It is good to see even the host didn't take the Globes seriously too.
And, now the backlash has begun. The Foreign Press, which is the Globes, had this to say about Gervais. ((Foreign Press Association released this statement to EW: “We loved the show. It was a lot of fun and obviously has a lot of people talking. When you hire a comedian like Ricky Gervais, one expects in your face, sometimes outrageous material. Certainly, in this case, he pushed the envelope and occasionally went too far. The HFPA would never condone some of his personal remarks. Overall, however, the show was among the best we’ve ever had and we were pleased.” ))
And, now Ricky will be banned from ever hosting the show again. From Pop Eater, (("Ricky will not be invited back to host the show next year, for sure," a member of the HFPA tells me, adding that Gervais' relentlessly mean shtick could have even larger consequences. "For sure any movie he makes he can forget about getting nominated. He humiliated the organization last night and went too far with several celebrities whose representatives have already called to complain." ))
I'm a mean-spirited kind of guy, so I enjoyed the clips of Ricky Gervais bashing people left and right. Did I watch the Golden Globes? Of course not...
I do wish Hollywood would get its collective head out of its ass and stop protecting Scientology.

And it isn't like they didn't know what they were getting when they hired Ricky Gervais... I mean, he did the same thing last year too... and look at what having him as a host has done... we are actually talking about the Golden Globes for once.
I think he even made statements that they would invite him back after hosting the show.
And, you're 100 percent correct. Nobody really cares about the GG, but everyone is talking about it now. I'd say mission successful.
I do think he'll get some calls from certain "Church" lawyers though and perhaps some threats. If you know what I mean...
