RIP Aron Eisenberg

Aron passed away at the age of 50.  I remember his work from DS9.  Aron played the character of Nog.  Like many characters on DS9, Nog grew from his appearance in the first episode.  He started out as a troublemaker and turned into the first Ferengi in Starfleet.  Aron was one of the biggest cheerleaders for DS9 over the years and had a personal connection to the show.  He actually kept his friendships with the cast and crew and he was close to the fans.   

For all the shit I give Wil Wheaton, he’s actually doing something nice and not being a twit on Twitter.  He’s reviewing the DS9 series for the first time.  Given Wil claims to be a geek, it seems odd that he has never watched DS9 before.  Aron and Wil crossed paths given they appeared at conventions.  Aron’s Nog character was an upgraded version of Wesley Crusher.  Everything they wanted to do with Wes was improved with Nog.   

There is even a petition to have the new Picard series to honor Nog.  It might happen, but this is CBS after all.  DS9 was under the Paramount rule and not CBS.  Plus, CBS is bullheaded and loves losing money.
