Shannon Fill: Where is she now? (Ensign Sito Jaxa)
Shannon Fill: Where is she now?
SF has been reviewing TNG seasons over at his blog. And, the episode Lower Decks came up. I recently watched Lower Decks on Net-flicks and found myself amazed with the performance from the young and lovely Shannon Fill, who played the character Ensign Sito Jaxa. Jaxa showed up in two episodes of TNG, actually they were two important episodes. There was a nice arc to her character too.
Her character was killed off in Lower Decks, but there were plans to bring her back for an episode of DS9. From Memory Alpha, ((One story considered by the writing staff concerned the return of Sito Jaxa from TNG: "Lower Decks". The pitch had Sito being imprisoned under inhumane conditions and suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder. Robert Hewitt Wolfe developed the story for some time. Feeling that there was insufficient explanation of Sito's condition, he had Sito killing her cellmate, whom she'd become close to. ))
Of course, the first thing I thought was “Damn, she is so cute.” But, Fill was so great in that episode as a young idealist character that it was heart-breaking to see her die.
At some point around 1995, Shannon Fill stopped acting. One of her last roles was in an episode of Walker, Texas Ranger. Did Chuck Norris have something to do with that?
All jokes aside, it seemed odd for a cute talented actress to simply stop acting. What made her walk away from it?
So, Shannon Fill, if you are out there fill us in. (pun intended)
Note
It looks like she joined Facebook, but nothing else.

I would have thought she would have gone into teaching Ice skating.
I'd like to know why she gave up acting because she was a good actress.
She was a good actress and I hoped the would at least get into voice acting.
I think there are a few actors and actress that fell off the face of the Earth from Season one of TNG though.
We are lucky to have her great performance cemented in the annals of sci-fi tv.
Jonathan
It just seems odd that she disappeared given that sci-fi would have given her a chance to fill out even more roles, such as Lost, BSG.
and could you imagine the work she could have gotten due to VO work?
Her disappearance does remind me of another actress from VOY that disappeared from acting as well...

Shannon is the top Ondine, the one who says, "You've lost, Ondine!"
I'd love to do an interview with her on this blog.
How was she your boss???
The curiousity is killing me BUT not at the expense of her career. I appreciate your agreement...I thought you might.
As far as Shannon is concerned, I am willing to do an interview via e-mail with her if she confirms her ID and so on
Did you read my post? I give her nothing but praise and wished she could have shown up on DS9.
Sorry, using the Shanter line "get a life" doesn't work here
Now that said, I also came across this page by accident, searching for her. Lower Decks was one of my favorite TNG episodes, and it was mainly due to her and her character. If she someday comes across this...Shannon, you were terrific.
Just watched 'Lower Decks' also. Very moving performance. One of the rare times you really felt something for a character. She brought a different emotion and feeling to the show that was quite moving. I thought for sure she was going to be a regular cast member from then on. And that was her introduction as a regular. Then I figured she must have had a bright future in acting.
Seems strange that she got a BA in drama, did theater, got some good acting jobs to start, and then just left acting. Seems that would be her passion. Something was up. I wonder what. Maybe she realized she wanted something more steady and something different with her life. A better grounded career and life. Hopefully she didn't get blacklisted for something, some of those Hollywood people can be horrible to young ladies I'm sure.
Would be nice to hear from her though.

In an escape pod.
I was the one that posted the contact info that you then referred to me as a bonehead. Of course, you didn't know the whole story-The moderator and I had a round robin conversation of sorts about trying to find Shannon. I told him I thought I had success in locating her, and the only way I had to get a hold of HIM, was thru this blog. WE BOTH AGREED that in order to PROTECT Shannon from those who would not be so respectful, that he would remove the info from his post. It wasn't because I was some nutcase or bonehead.
We are all simply appreciative of the absolutely stellar performance Shannon gave. It was memorable and one that stands out from the rest of TNG. Nothing malicious thought of or planned; just wanting to pass on our well wishes and courious as to where she is now so maybe we could tell her or watch more of it!
She was so amazing!
Cannot believe she's 23 years older..
Geezuz....what's wrong with you???
Feel free to show her this post. I am opening to a short interview with her via E-mail. I would just need to confirm it. While I am a villain, I can be a nice guy and I have done interviews in the past live and e-mail.
Due to the hordes of Spam, I get in my mailbox, so have the email put it in Caps the subject.
It will be a quick interview with a short conversation
I also belive this post recieved a shoutout from a popular Trek Podcast (Mission Log).
I think she wanted to do something different. I thought she was an amazing actress and would have shown up in a Neflx series or HBO drama given she was a very good. DS9 writers wanted to bring her back too.
Now, if you want to see a bad life story, look up the actor that played Alexander on TNG. or you can look up the actress that played Kes from Voy. These two ended up in bad places. Miss Fill I think just didn't feel acting was for her. I think she missed her calling, but she is actually making a differance as social worker.
Thanks Shannon!
WTF? I have been getting some strange comments of late...
Move along home!

My guess for an up and coming actress to end her Hollywood entertainment career so abruptly with little to none celebrity photos.
She probably encountered Harvey Weinstein, Jeffrey Epstein or Prince Andrew at various auditions and parties, and concluded that she didn't want to work for any of them.
Though it would be interesting to hear the actress come back as VO actor on Lower Decks, the TV show. Hmm...
All she has to do is leave a comment or e-mail.
Was she aware the writers from DS9 wanted to bring her back?
Will Fill start doing VO work for animation and VGs?
