Chris Tilton
Mr. Tilton is a new composer in the Videogame/Film business. Born in New Orleans, it would seem the city’s musical roots had an affect on the direction his life would take. Accomplished film/movie/TV Michael Giacchino took Tilton under his wing and showed him the ropes (musical strings?). Because of the intensity of TV’s post-production schedule, Giacchino needed someone to help fill in when he was too busy. In turn, Giacchino would help Tilton out with his videogame scores, mostly Black and Mercenaries.
Listening to many of his scores, I’ve come to hear some of the influences from Giacchino, yet he has his own touch that makes his work different from Giacchino’s music. With Goldsmith dead and Williams changing his style, it’s good to hear composers like Giacchino and Tilton base their style more toward 70/80s approach, while scoring new media forms (Videogames).
Look for very big things to come Chris Tilton’s way in the future. He's gots some skillz, yo (sorry)
