Dare to be Stupid

One of my favorite songs in the Transformers movie was Dare to be Stupid. I always liked hearing it during that battle with the Junkions. The song was written by "Weird Al" Yankovic. The whole point to the song was to make fun of the 80’s group Devo in the song and video.

Any song that has ‘put down the chainsaw and listen to me’ gives me a chuckle. This is one of the few songs on the Transformers soundtrack that wasn’t made for the movie. Listen closely to words, because he’s making fun of all those old phrases we’ve all heard.

Here’s the song as it was used in the movie

  1. Apparently Mark Mothersbaugh hates Weird Al for recording that song. Not because it aped the Devo sound, but because it did Devo better than Devo did (Mothersbaugh said that, too).

I've often referred to it as my theme song. I do like to squeeze all the Charmin I can while Mr. Whipple's not around.

  2. That is probably my other fave line beside "put down the chain saw"

That's what I heard too, I somehow Al can competely copy a style and reshape it into a joke. Sadly People sort of overlook his talents.
