From the New York Times, ((Walt Disney Studios revealed Mr. Gunn’s reinstatement as the director of “Guardians of the Galaxy 3” in an article on Deadline.com, a trade news site. Disney declined to comment further, except to confirm the report’s accuracy. In a statement on Twitter, Mr. Gunn called himself “incredibly humbled” and “tremendously grateful” to those who had supported him in recent months.))
Wait, what was the point of this whole thing? Don’t tweet on Twitter when you have a major franchise under your belt and delete everything offensive. When Disney “fired” him, I sat on the sidelines and didn’t state my opinion.
From Screen Rant, ((Warner Bros. reportedly went to great lengths to court Gunn, offering him the pick of the crop. He even had a chance to direct a Superman film, although he was apparently more interested in Superman's dog Krypto. The Suicide Squad is Gunn's priority, and is still slated for an August 6, 2021 release, so Disney's rehiring of James Gunn appears to have been made with his current deal with Warner Bros. and DC considered. It will certainly be interesting to see whether Gunn continues to work on both Marvel and DC movies going forward.))
Where does this new reveal leave DC and their Suicide Squad 2 movie and Gunn? I think Aquaman’s success really bothered Marvel and the Wonder Woman sequel coming up. If this whole firing was just for show, why let DC scoop him up?
Anyway, I am torn because I hate that people are weaponizing Tweets against people, but I don’t like how Disney undercut WB either. When you make it big, just delete your damn Twitter account. When you are limited to a certain amount of characters, people will miss context and shape narrative to their liking. However, this news will help with the third Guardians movie.
