Do
you remember those “Tone Your Butt” Reebok shoes? (EasyTone)
Was
that an underwear commercial or a shoe ad?
Because
Reebok is a shoe company, it is only natural that they would focus
their advertaging on butts. When the Easytone shoes were released,
all you saw were ads with well-toned, hot women talking about the
benefits of the EasyTone shoes shaping your butt.
Reebok
claimed that the shoes magically reshaped your ass into a better ass.
Well, that claim actually came back to bite them in the ass. (Yeah,
it was a bad pun.)
From
CNN, (( Reebok
got a kick in the keester on Wednesday. The Federal Trade Commission
announced that the company had to pay $25 million for "deceptively"
advertising its shoes for having buttock-toning abilities.
))
Well,
I don't agree with that. It is advertising, so hopefully people
don't truly believe that one shoe can magically change their
backsides without hardcore workouts. How about putting fines on Old
Spice for claiming that the soap will make you a true man. I tried
the soap and it doesn't work that way. Does that mean the FTC has a
case, nope.
((The
agency also said consumers who bought the EasyTone walking shoes and
RunTone running shoes can submit refund claims via the FTC's website.
The settlement money will be used to pay the refunds.
))
I
am not a tea party dude, but this one thing the government doesn't
need to be focusing in on. It is like when the police are gun-ho
about speeding and traffic tickets in a high crime neighborhood.
You're focusing in on the wrong thing. People should be smart enough
to know that these things don't work and is just a clever marketing
ploy
Really,
does this ad really seem honest?
