Guess Who

Some movies are going to suck no matter what (Leonard Part Six), while others had a chance to be good, but people decide to get the wrong actor for the part. Guess Who is one of the latter ones. Whoever decided to cast Ashton Kutcher in the role of the white guy made a terrible mistake. Kutcher can’t hang with the more funny Bernie Mac.

The movie does have some nice moments, such as what people have to go through in an interracial relationship. Despite what people say, there will always be racism in our world, and the movie shows one portion of it. There are people, white and black, that can’t stand interracial dating. For me, it doesn’t matter.

Guess Who could have been much better without the goofy jokes from Ashton. While Zoe Saldana is not only pretty, but also she carries the relationship when Ashton falters. The writing is all right for a comedy and doesn’t stray too far into chick-flick land. That’s a good thing folks, because I’m tired of going into movies and being tricked into romantic comedies (Shallow Hal, Bruce Almighty, so on). This is a case where the movie is better than Kutcher.

Grade: C

I'm still owning the fact that I actually like Kutcher, and while I was lukewarm on the movie I enjoyed it more than you, I think.

Actually, the "?" would be absent. The phrase "guess who" is an imperative command, not an interogative one.

Just keeping you on your toes, buddy.

Shannon Fill:   Where is she now? SF has been reviewing TNG seasons o ver at his blog. And, the episode Lower Decks came up. Madison Swan/Mia Malkova: Not so Mother's Day

I’ve written about some messed up things in my time as a blogger, but this story might just top the cake.  And, I mean really.  If you are offended by porn and the porn industry, don’t read this blog.  However, this might be one of the strangest and creepiest things I’ve seen and read about.  It just seems so wrong... Shrek the Third

Shrek the Third It’s not really that funny. Shrek 3 isn’t very funny or entertaining. It’s not even a bad movie, it’s just boring. While the other two movies tried to give us some adult humor, with Dreamworks ripping Disney a new one in both movies, Shrek 3 simply doesn’t bother to be funny. I probably laughed three times during the entire time. The allure and humor of the first two films are gone in Shrek 3. So, who is to blame for this movie? It’s the screenwriters. The script is the reason this movie doesn’t work. The story is like that cheap soda you buy from a knock-off brand: it taste bland and doesn’t have that kick that the real sodas have. The jokes feel incomplete and dry. As I watched the movie, I came up with better jokes and storyline progressions than the actual movie.
