Homicide: Life on the Street: A look back. A show before its time

Because I’ve been rewatching clips from The Wire, The Shield, and The Sopranos.  Homicide was an interesting show that had overarching stories mixed with episode-by-episode stories.  The show was never as popular as Law and Order, but both shows share a universe connection.  Both shows had crossovers episodes, and Detective Munch is the same character from Homicide and SVU.

In a lot of ways, Homicide was the unofficial father show for both The Wire and The Shield, as many guest stars showed up on both.

There were so many future/current actors in this show that you couldn’t list them all.  I loved the Robin Williams episode, and I had forgotten that Doogie Howser (NPH) himself showed up in one episode.   There was even an episode with Chris Rock

The show lasted seven seasons and ended in a satisfying movie.

Side Note:  Before the network was known for True Crime type shows, Lifetime would show reruns of the show back in the 90s.  I find that amusing because that network was aimed at women...white women.
