Dexter Season 2 (Part 1 of 2)

After deep-sea divers discover the area in the ocean where Dexter dumps his victims. The FBI and local police begin to investigate the mass murders, while the media calls it the killer The Bay Harbor Butcher. From the outside and inside Dexter discovers that his entire world begins to crumble around. And, he must take steps to stop it while not getting caught.

While not as compelling as the first season, the second season certainly makes up with better storytelling and character development.

Many of the minor problems I had with the first season are basically fixed in this season. The writers strengthened the roles of the minor characters and they made the story follow through in a straight line. The writers created a better-interconnected story this time, while maintain the dark elements. The personal stakes are higher and many characters take some dark turns.

In this season we get a better understanding behind Dexter and his motives, and they change a bit in this season. At the same time, Dexter starts to change. In this season, he takes a more sinister role in hiding his true identity. Dexter Morgan has to literally fight for his life, plus keeping himself out of jail.

The three main storylines and this time they are more consistent. One involves the main investigation into the bodies found in the ocean, namely the Bay Harbor Butcher. The other story deals with a new woman in Dexter’s life, Lila. The other main storyline is the conflict between Doakes and Dexter, which comes to a head in this season.

All three are entertaining, but the FBI investigation and the Doakes stories are just pure fun.
