EW reports that the upcoming season of 24 is shutting down for a bit for some ‘reshaping’. This is usually means something bad, but the fact they are trying to get it right means they do care and are trying to do something about. Think about how many movies and shows FOX has dumped without reshoots or rewrites.
(("We had a couple of scripts that we weren't happy with," 24 exec producer Howard Gordon tells EW.com. "We just couldn't get this direction to work, and we found another one that we liked better, so we wound up retooling it."))

Brannon Braga writing for 24
Could part of the problem be that they brought Brannon Braga on the show?
I read that this writer/producer has wormed his way into the show. I haven’t seen any news reports on him being on the show, just a link to 24 on his IMDB page. Imdb list him as a co-executive producer.
Keep in mind that Manny Coto is a co-executive on the show and he worked with Braga on Star Trek Enterprise. I’m not saying he’s going to ruin the show, but I don’t think Braga has skill level to deal with a continuity heavy show.
What kind of stories can we expect from him?
1. Jack Bauer ends up evolving into a giant salamander.
2. Season 7 Jack has to go back in time and stop his season 1 self from making a tough choice.
3. The next season will have a new female cast member that only wears a skin-tight uniform and is a horrible actress. (Which Braga will date for a few years, as her part increases the longer she dates him.)
Ah man... from that news, I can only surmise one thing... Kim Bauer is going to come back... no.... NO!
ReplyDeleteWhy would they even bother bringing her back? I hear her character will have a child.
ReplyDeleteI also guess Elisha Cuthbert's movie career hasn't taken off, and she's going back to the well.
