Freddie Prince Jr. joins WWE?

Taken from the Hollywood reporter

(Freddie Prinze Jr. has taken on a behind-the-scene role on World Wrestling Entertainment's creative team.

The company said Wednesday that Prinze will contribute to WWE's weekly TV and monthly pay-per-view programs.
"Freddie Prinze Jr.'s passion, energy and creativity make him an excellent fit for WWE," said chairman Vince McMahon.

Chris McCumber, executive vp marketing digital & brand strategy at USA Network, which airs WWE programming, added: "Bringing on board an experienced Hollywood writer, actor and producer like Freddie Prinze Jr. will only increase the level of entertainment to millions of viewers and passionate WWE fans every Monday on USA.")

Is Freddie Prince Jr.’s career in that bad of shape that he has to settle for behind the scenes development in wrestling? What David Arquette was annoying, but at least he did it as a joke. But, this is just a bad career move, but so was doing Scooby Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed.

I’m seeing a lot of WTF reactions to this news, so you will probably see Freddie pull out of this deal because it makes him look desperate. PR people are like that

But on the other side, what does he have to offer to the WWE? Make bad storylines? They already make bad movies.

Could this just be another stupid stunt from WWE?

Hell, even Hulk Hogan, the man who's made many bad choices too, thinks it's a bad idea.

Oy,

  1. I think at this point Hulk Hogan hasn't used all his goodwill capital in the community, so I don't think his opinion matters much in this situation.

  2. You're right, but I think it's funny that the Hulk-ster thinks he still has enough goodwill to show up on shows and make statements.

  3. Thanks for not noticing my typo btw... because you got exactly what I was saying.

Personally, I don't really have a problem with Freddie Prinze Jr. working a storyline on WWE. Granted I don't watch professional wrestling, but it is an entertainment medium nonetheless.

  4. I have to wonder if someone from Freddie’s camp tried to talk him out of it. “Come on, Freddie, you can always do Wing Commander IV or something.”

I was a huge fan of wrestling back in the day and was a huge fan of Hulk Hogan. So, finding out he and his family are complete assholes is just a shame.

  5. What makes me sad is finding out how many of the wrestlers I loved watching back in the mid-80's are dead now. It is a stunning number.

  6. Yeah, it is stunning how many have passed away. It looks like Hogan is certainly one of the longest living ones from that era too.

I wonder how much was because of body enhancing drugs or drug use.
