GB2 is a troubling film.  It leaned too much on the children aspects of the cartoon show, which was popular at the time.  One thing that is bothersome about the movie is that subplots are introduced and never paid off.   This set of deleted scenes does payoff the Mayor’s right-hand man subplot.  While he is the worst thing about the movie, it is fitting to see this character die a horrible death.  He touches the slime and gets dissolved.  It is pretty dark.  The movie needed more of these scenes.   

One of the biggest subplots involved Ray getting possessed by the main villain and trying to kill the Ghostbusters.  Subplot pays off why the main villain takes control of Ray in the third act.  Why was this removed?  The footage for that subplot hasn’t surfaced yet.   

BTW, the Slimer subplot is almost completely removed from the final cut of the movie.  Slimer is referenced as being a non-threat, thus being a nod to the cartoon continuity.  That was a nice touch.  We would have had a better payoff with Slimer helping out Louis on the bus better.
