I always find this relationship between Chris Chan and his brother Cole to be an interesting one. Cole, despite being a pretentious asshole hipster, is a somewhat successful film critic, whereas Chris is...Chris Chan. Cole spent the better half of his life avoiding his Virginia roots by living in LA and New York. Generally, Cole views everyone in the between states as MAGA-wearing unwashed masses. The problem is that he grew up with one of the worst mothers in the world. And, she wasn't able to ruin Cole like she is Chris Chan.

Then there is the controversy about Cole's father. Barbara, Cole and Chris' mother, was known as being a bit "open" with men. That's not the problem. The problem is that Barbara lied and counties to lie to Cole. He desperately wants to know who his father really is. And, she'll take that lie to the grave.

Cole and Chris no longer talk and Cole simply ignored Chris.  Chris will beg for money from his brother from time to time.  As if out of spite, Chris and his mother sold off many of Cole's things he collected over his teenage years.  And, they didn't get permission.

Side Note: Despite losing a lot of backers and money, Chris Chan still makes more on Patreon than Cole Smithey. And, both of them make more than I.  It must burn Cole up that people would rather hear what Chris has to say about a movie than Cole who is a professional critic. 

 Check out Cole's smile.  And, I wonder if Barb even knows that Cole was in a band and become a critic?  Does she simply see him as money?
