Endangered gopher tortoise killed

Operation Shell Shock: 4Chan starts a crusade and a good one at that.

While checking Know Your Meme, they had a story about an Operation Shell Shock via 4Chan. I know that 4Chan does a lot of mean and bad things, but they also get movements started when law enforcement and other groups refuse to move their feet. They've done this many times.
From the Daily Dot, ((The teens, as catalogued in graphic and disturbing videos they posted to YouTube and Facebook, attempted to burn the turtle multiple times. Unsatisfied, they threw it against the hard pavement multiple times, taunted it, and ultimately stomped it to death, all the while laughing and delighting in its suffering. ))
One of things that pisses me off is animal cruelty. I get really angry. I remember saving a turtle just sitting in the middle of a bike trail. I moved him to the other side so no one could run him over by accident. Generally, most turtles and tortoises are defenseless to attacks like this. The amount of pain this animal went through had to be huge.
Why would these two girls do such a heinous thing?
Because they were bored by the creature. I am not making this up. Lighting and stomping the thing to death is their form of entertainment. Someone get these girls a Wii U.
Did I mention that the gopher tortoise is endangered? So, killing one is highly illegal. And, of course this happened in Florida. Why do all the bad things happen in that state?
Someone started Operation Shell Shock to find out the information on these horrible girls via 4Chan. After discovering their IDs, they sent e-mails to the police and the local news channels. It appears the police are going to take action the matter, but something tells me it won't be much.
Why would you post something like this on your own FB and YouTube page?
Did they not realize the backlash that was coming to them?

The kicker is now they're remorseful and using a religious tone of forgiveness.
Some is pissed with your actions.
