The Career of Eddie Murpy: from good to bad Part 2

The Golden Child:  I actually like this movie.  This is also the movie that made sure Eddie Murphy wasn’t going to star in Star Trek IV.  He regretted not taking the ST gig after this movie came out.  I thought the script was weak, but Eddie is very good in the movie.  He seems to be making up the jokes as he goes along.  Charlotte Lewis is extremely hot in this movie.  Again, I like this movie.  While it doesn’t hold up on second and third viewings, it still is a fun movie.  Lewis works well with Eddie.  There are a lot of scenes I still quote from in this movie…like this one.
I want the Knife…please.

What happened to Judge Reinhold?
Beverly Hills Cop II:  This one isn’t as funny as the first movie.  It probably has to do with Tony Scott playing everything but Eddie completely straight.  It is more of a straight action movie than a comedy.  It is certainly a sleeker film than the first movie.

Clarence: Fuck you, fuck you, and fuck you! Who's next?  (Best line ever)
Coming to America:  There are some great multi-roles being played by Eddie and Arsenio Hall.  Hall and Eddie are great together in all their roles.  I also liked the cameo from the former rich people from Trading Places (Duke Brothers).  Eddie is the one to take away their fortunes, and he gives it back to them.  You also got a great cast as well (James Earl Jones John Amos Eriq La Salle Louie Anderson and uh Midori).  Soul Glo is disgusting.  I love this movie too!

Eddie Murphy was just touched by an angel...
Harlem Nights:  This is another classic movie from Eddie Murphy, who also directed and wrote the movie.  Plus, he shares the limelight with top-notch comedians.  I believe Eddie made this film because of flack he was receiving from Spike Lee.  Some people don’t like the movie, but I really enjoy it.  Eddie’s character is clearly an anti-hero in a manner of speaking.  He shoots an old woman in the foot after throwing a trashcan at her.  He kills Jasmine Guy even though he doesn’t have to.  That was shocking.  It is almost a heist/con movie in a way.  The movie is full of character actors and comedians.   (Richard Pryor Redd Foxx Danny Aiello  Michael Lerner
Robin (fun world) Harris
Jasmine Guy is lovely.  And, who can forget Lela Rochon (AKA Sunshine)?  Recently, Murphy has come down hard on this movie more than he should.  He’s says he didn’t do a good enough job directing it.
