Rob Granito: Comic Book Fraud? (Jay Diddilo)

Rob Granito: Comic Book Fraud? (Jay Diddilo)
After listening to a podcast extensively destroying this guy, it appears that this Granito has been swiping other artists' work for years now and showing up to conventions selling the stolen art as his own work. That's low, very low. The fact that is selling them as his own work is the huge problem I have with his scam. And, I can't believe he's been doing it for years, considering all the other stuff he's doing around it.
But, it doesn't stop there. Granito has created a whole fictional world for himself where he worked with Bruce Timm and many of other DC and Marvel comic projects. The problem is he never worked for DC/Marvel or any of the people he claims he knows. His fictional world came crashing down on him when Bleeding Cool.com started to look into the fictional world of Granito, and things didn't add up.
From Bleeding Cool, Rob stated this in an e-mail to the writer ((Yes I am currently working iwth Jay Diddilo on a batman title that has not yet been released. I’ve worked on dozens of books the shaddow of the bat being the batman title I was on for about 4 weeks. Most of my work has been covers though. The current took deals with a bit more of the history of the “batman” then his current exploits though. ))
Who is Jay Diddilo? This is where he screwed up. I think he meant Dan DiDio, the Co-Publisher of DC Comics.  If you can’t get the name right on one of the most important people in comics, then there is something wrong.  Despite being an Internet meme, Jay Diddilo doesn’t exist. The problem for Rob is that he dug himself even deeper when he tried to explain it through sock puppets.
What is a sock puppet? Here is the term from the urban dictionary. ((A fake personality, usually a 'friend' or 'sister,' created by a drama queen/king for the sake of defending him/herself against others in an online forum.  ))
He's been doing this since they outed him as a con-artist. Like his fake career persona, he's created a world of sock puppets that defend him at every turn. My personal favorite sock puppet is “David Call” the lawyer.
From Convention Fans Blog, ((Dave Call said:
well i am not Rob Granito or do i run a convention but the hole thing is outraged the guy made a simple mistake by doing tribute art he never denyed it was tribute art and everyone could tell it is the tribute art so they want to prosecute him over that i shake my head ive scene so many artists doing the same thing but because this guy made money and had a fan base they couldnt take it))
Through his sock puppet, this is probably how he views his stealing of artwork. Tribute art is using your own hand to draw your favorite characters or in the same style and manner as the artist you like. What Granito did was literally steal images and photo-shop his name on the image. I don't even think he can draw.
Now, Rob has made a statement of sorts back on March 26. From his fan page, ((I know what's going on right now and i want to apologize for how it looks. i know ive made some mistakes and I want to make ammends with all. thank you to those who came up to me at the con today wth kind words. Today i came prepared with dc comics pay stubbs as proof that Im not a conman or liar ))
Legit-o-mite, a site devoted to giving info out about Rob's fake pictures, has a lot of photos comparing Rob's work to the ones he ripped off. So, are people going to start suing him? I mean fans actually bought some of his “original” work.
-His site is gone now. I guess he headed for za hillz.
