Predators (Part 2 of 2)

By the way, the sword is made by the same dude that made the sword in Kill Bill.

Predators (Part 2 of 2)
The cast is pretty good, but don’t have the same moments to shine like the first movie. And, the characters aren’t as strong as team as the commando team in the first movie. You never get the feeling this group is working together. And, part of the charm of the first movie is watching these friends work together to fight the alien.
Here we never get the feeling these people are working together or trying to form a friendship. I understand this more “looking out for yourself” thing, but I would have enjoyed seeing them start to work together as well.
Here are my thoughts about the cast.
Adrien Brody: He’s basically the lead in the movie. He’s not really much of a leader but a guy that has to work with the others to survive. Brody does a good job with what he has to do in the movie. He’s a better actor than Arnold, but Arnold seemed to have more to do with the plot.
Laurence Fishburne: He completely harms the film with his appearance. While Fishburne isn’t bad as the nutty soldier guy, his role isn’t that compelling or entertaining. You could have easily deleted him from the movie.
Topher Grace: I’m not a huge fan of Grace, and he seems to be channeling his role from Spiderman 3 in this story. I didn’t even like the last-minute twist at the end with his character either.
Alice Braga: She is certainly nice on the eyes. She is tougher than the only female lead in the first movie. I also enjoyed that her character was the one that connected this movie to the other two movies.
Walton Goggins: He plays the same redneck jerk he’s played for years. I didn’t like the rape jokes and the creepy flirting he does throughout the movie.
Danny Trejo: He plays a version of Machete.
With a few rewrites and some editing, Predators could probably stand right beside the first movie in quality. Still, the movie a lot fun and has some cool moments that harken back to the first movie. You can tell the director and writers truly love the franchise more so than the people that made Aliens vs Predators. Nothing will ever beat the original movie, but this one is fun.
