Gamespot makes a statement

More about that Jeff Gerstmann thing

http://blog.wired.com/games/2007/12/gamespot-explai.html

Ever since MC posted in his blog about this guy’s firing, I grown more and more pissed about how this guy was treated. The video review is rather tame and not that negative.

Here’s what Gamespot had to say about the incident;

((Though GameSpot confirms that Eidos did express displeasure over Gertsmann's review of Kane & Lynch, the company flatly denies it had any bearing on Gerstmann's departure. Gerstmann was let go as a result of an "internal review process" conducted by his managers.))

Yeah, that clears it up…not. This still stinks of Gamespot giving in to Eidos’ complaints.

BTW, I heard that Eidos is scared crap-less with the bad press it is getting over this whole incident. That’s what they get.

Here's a former Gamespot employee ripping into some of the groups involved in this story

I love his ripping into some of the ‘Nancy Drew groups and the Nintendo nerds’. I still can’t believe these guys can’t get over the 8.8 rating he gave that Zelda game. Most game developers would love to get an 8.8. Relax Zelda fanboys.

  1. The BBPS has an interesting article about this whole situation as well.

  2. Thanks for the link that is a great post. More and more information is coming out about and I am not liking how this is all turning out.

    Now they're just making up reviews at Eidos

    It would appear that Eidos and Gamespot will feel this sting for years.
