Cameo: A look back

Cameo

While playing GTA Vice City, Cameo's song Candy came on the Videogame radio. That was when I knew the programmers grew up in the same decade as me. Cameo is one of those bands that everyone has heard at least one of their songs , usually Candy or Word Up!

The 80s were about excess, and this band wasn't any different. With their over the top acting and hairstyles, they stood out from the other two-hit wonders out there.

If you have forgotten what this band sounded like, here are some videos for you.

Candy:

Notes: Man, this video brings back memories. Look at those 80s haircuts and the very 'fabulous' clothing. Plus, the leader is wearing his signature red (Codpiece) diaper. I'm not sure what the red diaper did for him other than it gave women a reason to look at his junk. I didn't realize the song was so dirty either.

I also noticed a big difference between this video version and the one heard on the Vice City album. The Vice City version is longer and has no Saxophone solo. It felt like the Sax was added for the radio/video version because that was what all 80s songs had. Want to make a song? Throw in a Sax solo!

Note: This was a classic as well. Please look for LaVar Burton playing a cop in this one! Yes, Mr. Reading Rainbow Geordi LaForge Kunta Kinte makes a cameo in a Cameo video. W-O-R-D UP!

Perhaps they should tour with Hall and Oats...
