Kaavya Viswanathan, you're in trouble

Okay, this plagiarized thing with this teen writer is really getting serious.

((Facing new allegations that 19-year-old Kaavya Viswanathan plagiarized a host of novels in her debut book, publisher Little, Brown and Co. said Tuesday it would not release a revised edition of "How Opal Mehta Got Kissed, Got Wild, and Got a Life." The publisher also canceled plans for a sequel.))

What the hell? Now it looks like she has more people claiming she unintentionally borrowed from them as well. Man, this is getting really bad.

((Company representatives refused to say whether the Franklin Lakes resident would have to return any of the $500,000 advance she received for the two books. Repeated calls to Viswanathan's home were not returned.))

I don’t think I’d get that amount, if I ever got this damn book finished. This young woman has to be going to through a lot things right now. She was caught stealing and the whole word is calling for blood. Relax, she was caught, now back off.

From the same link, here are comparisons.

((From Meg Cabot's "The Princess Diaries," page 12:

"There isn't a single inch of me that hasn't been pinched, cut, filed, painted, sloughed, blown dry, or moisturized. ... Because I don't look a thing like Mia Thermopolis. Mia Thermopolis never had fingernails. Mia Thermopolis never had blond highlights."

From Kaavya Viswanathan's "How Opal Mehta Got Kissed, Got Wild, and Got a Life," page 59:

"Every inch of me had been cut, filed, steamed, exfoliated, polished, painted, or moisturized. I didn't look a thing like Opal Mehta. Opal Mehta didn't own five pairs of shoes so expensive they could have been traded in for a small sailboat."

A warning written on a wall in Salman Rushdie's "Haroun and the Sea of Stories," page 35:

"If from speed you get your thrill / take precaution -- make your will."

A poster in Viswanathan's novel, page 118:

"If from drink you get your thrill, take precaution -- write your will." ))

Yeah, she plagiarized. Okay, press have at her, I changed my mind.
